We know Aimee has the skills to pay the bills, and we’ve seen her finish well in big international comps before (like last year’s Euro X Games for example). But she had a bit of a frustrating season last year, nursing a couple of niggling injuries that saw her pull out of a few contests.
Those withdrawals, combined with the cancellation of the slopestyle test event in Sochi, meant that she had precious few chances to earn the FIS points she needed to qualify for the games.
And with only two events left (in Copper later this month, and in Quebec in January) it was getting towards what Alex Ferguson would call “squeaky bum time” for Aimee’s Sochi campaign. So it’s good to see she’s going into the Copper World Cup on such fine form, with a 7th place finish here. Come on Aimee!
