Talented young Finnish ripper Enni Rukajarvi has won the women’s slopestyle at the Burton European Open in Laax just one week after taking the prestigious Roxy Chicken Jam title.

The Finn threw down a seriously impressive run to earn the winning score of 93.17, putting her more than ten points clear of her nearest rival. Although Enni has had a great season so far, winning the 4-star Horsefeathers PLeasure Jam as well as last week’s Roxy event, today’s contest was by no means a foregone conclusion.

Several of the best riders in the world, including the much-fancied Czech Sarka Pancochova and the Norwegian Lisa Wiik were also going all out for the win at the 6-star-rated TTR contest, while Cheryl Maas, who is riding with an injury at the moment, was knocked out earlier in the week. Unfortunately the UK’s best hope, Aimmee Fuller, also failed to make the final eight, missing out by just two places after she finished 10th out of the 20 girls in the semi.

Sarka’s highest-scoring run, which earned her a score of 74 and third place, included a massive 720 indy-nosebone, and looked like it may have been enough to shift Enni off the top spot. In the end however, she was let down by a couple of slightly sloppy landings, and had to concede second place to the talented Swiss rider Sina Candrian, who rode impeccably in front of her home crowd.

However, neither Candrian’s clean landings nor Sarka’s steeze could beat Enni, who was consistency defined as she stomped an impressively technical run that included a backside 5 and a cab 7. Although the result may not necessarily move Rukajarvi to the top of the TTR rankings (as riders like current number one Sarka have more results on the board) it puts her in a great position for the rest of the season, and makes her a contender for both the TTR World Tour title and the Burton Global Open Series title.
