Can YOU Cut It? – Absinthe Editing Competition Results

So the voting is finished, your choices have been counted up and the results are finally in! We’ve de-duplicated the ballot (meaning that multiple votes from a single person’s computer have been discounted – a standard procedure for Whitelines competitions). And after months of editing, nearly 150 entries, and thousands of votes, we can finally announce the victor of the 2010-11 Whitelines-Absinthe Editing Competition. And the winner is… Max Downey! (Cue massive applause, beaming smiles, camera zooming in on shocked faces and a teary acceptance speech). Massive congratulations are due to all five finalists, but especially to Max, who’s setting of the clips to Sub Focus’ Rock It was inspired.

The final results looked like this:

1) Max Downey
2) Yann Mourier
3) Tom Hall
4) Will Jarman
5) Andrew Panteli

[NB: The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that Andrew Panteli appears to have a larger percentage of the vote than Mr Downey. So why isn’t he the winner? Well, after we’d de-duped the results – i.e. discounted ballots from people who’d voted multiple times – Max emerged as the winner.]

Thank you for everyone who got involved in this year’s competition, and we’re really looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with next year! And here, for your viewing pleasure, is Max’s video once again. Keep an eye out for it in the extras section on Absinthe’s forthcoming DVD release. I believe Charlie Sheen has a phrase for this kind of thing…
