Burton High5 Tour – Milton Keynes wins the Golden Shovel!

MK's shaping crew with Burton's Ferg Hertherington - smile boys, you've just won!

After an epic battle spanning the length and breadth of Britain – featuring six snow-domes, five incredible obstacles, and a cast of hundreds – the Burton High5 Tour has finally drawn to a close. Once the lights went off after the final tour stop at Milton Keynes, the counting of the votes began… while shaping teams across the country held their breath, Burton’s minions tallied votes, computed totals, and finally returned with a result: The UK’s best park shapers of 2010-11 are… Milton Keynes!

The MK crew, consisting of Niel Campbell, Tom Boddington and Jack Falconer put together a sick setup featuring street lamps, road-signs and all manner of spray paint work, impressing more riders on the night than any other setup. As well as the (richly deserved) Golden Shovel Award, the boys win themselves a holiday to Morzine courtesy of Rude Chalets. Not only that, their home slope gets to keep three of the obstacles (the Donkey Kink rail, the Down-Flat-Down and the Whitelines Wallride) for their regular freestyle nights. Hit ‘More’ for the full breakdown of the results, and how Burton calculated them.

After each event every rider would fill out their ballot slip and hand it in to cast their vote on what they thought of the competition. Then once the whole tour had come to a close the votes were counted the winning slope would be awarded the Golden Shovel Award. So a huge congratulations has to go to SNO!zone, Milton Keynes for triumphing over the competition and hosting the most popular event of the whole tour. Their creative use of street lights and wooden Burton logo bonk, combined with a perfect flowing course with urban inspired run-ins made it the riders favourite of all the 6 events. The final overall standing looked like this:

1st SNO!zone Milton Keynes
2nd SNO!zone Castleford
3rd SNO!zone Braehead
4th The Snow Centre, Hemel Hempstead
5th The Snowdome, Tamworth
6th Chill Factore, Manchester
