Beijing’s Air & Style becomes ‘Shaun White Air & Style’

A few days ago we announced that the Air & Style would be taking their legendary big air competition to Beijing, and inviting a load of the world’s best riders out there to throw down. Including Shaun White, who hadn’t ridden in an Air & Style since 2005. In the short space of time that follows, it seems that our questions about who persuaded Shaun to ride there have been answered, with a press release from Oakley. Yep, the goggle brand has announced that with a bit of help from them, the Air & Style Beijing will now be known as the “Air & Style Beijing presented by Shaun White”. And we have no doubt that it’ll be a spectacular, no-expenses spared showcase. As well as the little promo video that you can see above, they also put out a press release explaining how “the December 4th spectacle is set to pave the way for the entire snowboarding industry to enter the Chinese market”. Selling Chinese kids on the idea of snowboarding is really important right now according to Oakley’s CEO Colin Baden because “Chinese youth are currently experiencing a cultural revolution” – is it just me or is “cultural revolution” a particularly unfortunate choice of words when talking about China…?
