More Action from the Big Mountain Pro
It may have been a travel day, searching for what is becoming ever more elusive snow, but there was no shortage of action on the fourth day of The Swatch O’Neill Big Mountain Pro.
Mikkel Bang & Jenny Jones Win Nissan X-Trail Nippon Open ParkStyle Finals
Japan has an air of mystery around the islands that collectively make up the country. It could be the spirits in the trees that house the much sought after powder snowboarders are always searching for. However, the mystery of the 2008 Nissan X-Trail Nippon Open so far has been the weather. After a rough couple days of heavy snow and high winds, the sun finally came out today for the Nippon Open ParkStyle finals at ALTS-Bandai resort.
Vans Presents Live Webcast of the Vans Cup at Tahoe
The 4th Annual Vans Cup at Tahoe comes to Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort this weekend with a field of snowboarding’s brightest stars: Andreas Wiig, Danny Kass, Mason Aguirre, Chad Otterstrom, Andy Finch, Todd Richards, J.J. Thomas, Leanne Pelosi, Alexis Waite and Jana Meyen, who will be competing for a prize purse of more than $200,000.
Local Action Set for Swatch TTR Austrian Masters
The K-park in Kuehtai and Nordpark in Innsbruck are both ready to host the Swatch TTR 3-Star Austrian Masters, which will kick off from 29th February until the 2nd March. As the final event of the 12-stop Austrian Cup Tour, the Austrian Masters will determine the 2008 Cup Champion, with 550 TTR Ranking Points and a 10,000 Euro prize purse up for grabs.
Day Three of the Big Mountain Pro
It was touch and go on day three of The Swatch O’Neill Big Mountain Pro in the Val de Bagnes. An early departure from Chamonix meant that all the riders were helied up to check out the north face of Le Rogneux (3000m), just over the border in Switzerland at 7am. At 400m long, it wasn’t as long as yesterday’s face, but at the top the steepness was up to 50%, mellowing out to 30% further down.

The Aesthetiker Jam – Waengl Taengl will be kicking off in Mayrhofen from 1st to 8th of March, 2008.
Conquering Demons
Oakley UK and Lockdown Projects are currently in pre-production with filmmaker Carlo Mancini on a documentary about the ‘psychology of fear’. The film will feature Oakley riders Scott McMorris and Tyler Chorlton and live behind the scenes footage will be broadcast exclusively on Bebo from March 3rd.
Swatch O’Neill Big Mountain Pro Gets Off to Action-Packed Start
Day one of The Swatch O’Neill Big Mountain Pro kicked off with a scenic run down the Vallée Blanche, as the best freeride snowboarders gathered in the mountaineering resort of Chamonix.
Japan Beckons Riders for 5-Star Nissan X-Trail Nippon Open
The Swatch TTR 5-Star Nissan X-Trail Nippon Open is set to rock Japan from February 26th to March 2nd 2008 at the Alts Bandai resort in Fukushima. Some of the world’s best snowboarders including Shaun White, Antti Autti, Jamie Anderson and Torah Bright will be making the long trip to compete in Halfpipe and Slopestyle formats for two batches of 850 TTR Ranking points and over $125,000 in prize money.
Oakley Arctic Challenge Results
It was a dramatic finale to one of the most significant competitions on the Tour. The Swatch TTR 6 STAR Oakley Arctic Challenge, greeted with sunny skies and an enthusiastic crowd, wrapped up with US rider Kevin Pearce taking home the title along with $24.500 and moving into the TTR World No.1 position. Shayne Pospisil, also from the United States, took second place while Peetu Piiroinen of Finland once again proved he’s one of the best by rounding out the Top three and maintaining his grasp on TTR World No. 3.
