Aimee Fuller invited to The Arctic Challenge

The UK’s Aimee Fuller has been killing it this past season. Following some impressive international comp results – including fifth place at the 6-star O’Neill Evolution earlier this month – she’s now earned herself an invite to the most prestigious event of them all, The Arctic Challenge.

2011 is the first year women are taking part at TAC, which was started by legendary Norwegian Terje Haaksonsen in 1999 as a lesson in how to do a contest by riders for riders. In fact the comp gave birth to the whole ‘TTR’ concept, since initially the winners of other events were given a ‘Ticket To Ride’ at the season-ending shred fest in Norway.

These days The Arctic Challenge falls in February and is only one stop on the TTR circuit, but its role in snowboarding’s history, its rider-orientated vibe and the invite-only rule still grant it a special aura. Making the list of 16 riders is therefore an honour in itself, but we expect Aimee will go a little further than that and show the scene at large just what she’s capable of. Good work!

Quite a step up registering for the Vans Dawn of the Shred in Aviemore...
