Issue 94 – January 2011

So, it’s the New Year! And whether or not your bothering to make any resolutions about becoming a ‘new you’, there’s a new issue of Whitelines out – which you should probably go and get your hands on. Hit ‘more’ to see what’s inside your favourite mag this month.

ON THE COVER – FREE STICKERS
Does what it says on the tin really – high quality stickers featuring the Whitelines ‘W’ and logo, so you can make that brand new board you got for Christmas look sick.

MAKING TRACKS – CANADA’S POWDER HIGHWAY
Western Canada always conjures up images of incredible terrain, BC bud and bottomless powder that you need expensive helis – or at the very least snowmobiles – to access. But it’s not all endless expense out there. Cat-boarding can provide a cheaper way to access this powder paradise, and get your hands on all those goodies (well OK, maybe not the BC bud – try the dudes who hang out above the New Amsterdam Café in Vancouver for that ;-)) Whitelines headed out there to check out whether it’s all it’s cracked up to be.

JAKE BLAUVELT – THE FUTURE OF FREERIDING?
In the space of a few years, Jake Blauvelt has gone from being an East Coast contest kid to becoming one of the Pacific Northwest’s top free-riding talents. Already compared to the likes of Nicolas Muller and Terje, this shred-dog is surely destined for big things. We caught up with him to talk about his career so far, and where he wants to take free-riding in the future.

CHILE POWDER
The Relentless team (so that’s Jenny Jones, Tyler Chorlton, Gary Greenshields and Dom Harrington) took one of the coolest pre-season shred trips ever last summer, heading down to Chile to sample the country’s famous powder. This is the full story of their adventures in the Andes.

DUDE RANCH – A NIGHT ON NIKE’S JIB FARM
Nike 6.0 put on an impressively original jib comp recently, transforming a farm in rural Bavaria into one of the best rail parks the world has ever seen – and then inviting a whole host of the world’s best rail riders to rip it up – including the UK’s Jamie Nicholls, Sparrow Knox and Little T. Here’s what these three – as well as Jed Anderson, Louis-Felix Paradis, Wojtek Pawlusiak and a whole host of others – got up to.

PLUS:
Devun answers YOUR questions
Sam Cullum teaches you backside spins
The Geek talks snowboard shapes
We give away a brand new snowboard and a holiday

C’mon, with all that going on, you’d be silly not to head down to Smiths and grab yourself a copy – you need a treat to cheer you up after Christmas don’t you? Yeah you do… ;-)
