Oakley King of Greens Edit

Here’s the official edit from the Oakley King of Greens golf tournament that we attended last week.

A golf edit on WL we hear you say? It is a bit of a weird one, especially that the event happened in the first place. Action sports and golf, an unlikely combination.

Yes we were in attendance, after all you can’t turn down an opportunity to interview Heikki Sorsa, but we are finding ourselves in the position where we have to ask just what was the mohawk toting Fin doing at a golf club?

We suppose it’s the visual style of the video, shot like so many of the high end shredits we’ve seen over the past few years that got us wondering on this theme.

Is it that action sports has grown up, maybe even lost its ‘x-factor’? Or is that golf is now moving away from being an elitist past time and becoming an everyman’s game?

After all, our ragtag bunch of reporters was allowed on the course and even a few swings on the driving range without a stiff collar in sight.

But then again, 2014 is the year where video gaming is an official event at the summer X Games.

We’d genuinely like to hear some more opinions on this. In the box below. Go on, we know you have them.

Having said all of that, we are pretty stoked on Ben Kilner winning it, if action sports is losing its cool, it should at least go down with a snowboarder on top!

And if Sparrow Knox’s antics are anything to go by, we might be safe after all…
