The main event of the winter is the Freeride World Tour, which comes to town at the end of January. Held at le Brévent, it’s the perfect arena to watch the best in the world hucking themselves off massive cliffs, and a chance to support Sascha Hamm who’s the only Brit on the tour this year. There are a few decent parties around town at that time as well. These guys are definitely no Olympians, swapping ice baths for booze too help them recover.
The Grands Montets generally stays open into the middle of May and their Freeride Days event is worth a visit for one last snow fix. With live music on the mountain, fancy dress and a carnival-style atmosphere, it’s a fun weekend on which to end the season.
