5 US Riders We’re Thankful For at Thanksgiving

Travis Parker was one of the most unique, stylish riders of his day. He made pro snowboarding relatable by bringing it back to what many people (us included) think it should be – riding around with your mates and having a laugh. Following the beaten track was never really Travis’ thing, and his unique take on the shred took the sport by storm in the early 2000s. One year, he decided to ride switch the whole season – just for the fun of it.

It came as a bit of a surprise when Travis decided to take a step back form being a big-time pro, but perhaps it shouldn’t have been. After all, becoming a sushi chef and a park shaper was totally in keeping with the kind of leftfield moves he’d been making his whole career.

To say thanks for Travis, we thought we’d share his 2003 part from Robotfood’s Lame, in which he completely crushed the idea of riders taking themselves too seriously. After all, how many pros do you see riding around in a fat suit?!
